Through the use of dynamic simulation, the design of modern control systems to replace existing obsolete equipment in the paper industry is enhanced. The risks associated with the commissioning of the upgraded control system are greatly reduced.
International Paper, Franklin, Virginia mill
International Paper used THINK-based dynamic simulations on two bleach line upgrade projects. The simulator played a major role in verifying Distributed Control System (DCS) and Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) configurations and in providing operator training prior to the bleach line commissioning of controls. The bleach lines started up with almost no configuration modifications other than loop tunings. Upon completion, both lines achieved higher production with significantly better quality pulp.
